At the heart of this agenda lie the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which guide collective action towards a more just, inclusive and sustainable future.

We strengthen the regional economy through close collaboration with local enterprises and are a certified apprenticeship provider. With a clear focus on purpose-driven events, we generate sustainable added value for the region.
2 Zero Hunger
As a certified Green Caterer, EvenTZ by foodaffairs is committed to using organic, fair trade and locally sourced ingredients. With a clear focus on minimising food waste, the company promotes sustainable event catering and conscious consumption.
3 Good Health an Well-Being
Health promotion is supported through a company doctor, sports activities and team events. Trainings on personal development also enhance well-being and resilience.
4 Quality Education
We support the continuing education of our employees, are a recognised training provider and are involved in the micelab:bodensee research network to promote knowledge sharing and development within the industry.
5 Gender Equality
We communicate using gender-inclusive language, ensure gender-independent compensation and offer inclusive restroom facilities. Equality and diversity are fundamental pillars of our organisational culture.
6 Clean Water and Sanitation
Water efficiency is achieved through the use of low-flow fittings and toilets equipped with flush-stop mechanisms, significantly reducing consumption and supporting environmental sustainability. We actively promote the use of reusable water bottles and provide free carafes of water at events to minimise single-use waste.
7 Affordable and Clean Energy
Our energy supply is based on sustainable solutions: lake-based thermal energy for heating and cooling, and electricity from our own photovoltaic systems. Energy-efficient LED lighting reduces long-term energy consumption.
8 Decent Wortk and Economic Growth
Since 2010, Festspielhaus has been certifying resource-efficient and socially responsible events under the “Green Meetings & Events” eco-label, actively promoting sustainable growth within the industry. Providing inclusive employment opportunities is an integral part of our commitment to social responsibility.
9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Festspielhaus Bregenz is a Green Location certified with the Austrian Ecolabel and holds the ÖKOPROFIT® certificate - a clear commitment to sustainable environmental management and cost awareness.
10 Reduce Inequalities
We take our social responsibility seriously by ensuring that participation in our events is accessible to all. The event spaces at Festspielhaus Bregenz are fully barrier-free, offering inclusive access for every guest.
11 Sustainable Cities and Communities
In 2022, Bregenz once again received the European Energy Award in Gold and is among the leading cities in Europe for climate protection. Sustainable urban development is a key focus of the e5 municipality.
12 Responsible Consumption and Production
We avoid environmentally harmful, short-lived giveaways and rely on digital communication and reusable materials. Banners and similar items are given a second life through upcycling.
13 Climate Action
Around 10% of the renovation budget for 2022–2025 was invested in sustainability: green roofing, lake-based thermal energy, thermal insulation, and photovoltaics. Our in-house environmental team coordinates and promotes the venue’s sustainability efforts.
14 Life below Water
Avoiding plastic is a key priority. We have eliminated single-use tableware in favour of reusable alternatives. Clear internal guidelines ensure the environmentally responsible use of materials throughout all event operations.
15 Life on Land
We promote eco-friendly mobility through job bikes, bicycle parking, and incentives for using public transport. Our vehicle fleet is gradually being converted to environmentally friendly technologies.
16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

17 Partnerships for the Goals
Since 2016, we have been working with micelab:bodensee to further develop the MICE industry. Through the Inner Development Goals (IDGs), we empower employees to implement the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
